Our AURAKIEd team deliver world first and world class training and development programmes. Our world first Data Apprenticeship and Tirohanga Māori Approaches to Data Analytics programmes are often oversubscribed. AURAKIEd drives innovation in education and training by integrating tipuna wisdom with 21st century tools.

Auraki operates on the premise that our solutions expand opportunities for one generation and in turn shifts the starting point for the next generation. The Māori population is a structurally youthful population with around 40% under the age of 25. AURAKI Careers focuses on rangatahi development ensuring equitable access to STEM education and employment.

With strengths utilising kaupapa Māori models, Auraki consultants project manage Health and Wellbeing Locality Planning with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori and community organisations; deliver bespoke cultural confidence programmes with government and industry organisations; and offer thought leadership think-pieces on issues of importance for Māori.

Auraki Group Ltd is owned and operated by Arohaina Owen, Frank Manu and Naomi Manu. Auraki Group Ltd enjoys the sophistication of indigenous knowledge and seeks to celebrate that knowledge as a catalyst to live indigenously. 

Auraki Group Ltd seeks to build capability in a way that ensures a positive collision between technical capability and mātauranga Māori. In the words of kaumātua Tā John Marsh MBE leveraging ‘old ways of knowing with new ways of doing’.

Co Founder - Strategy & Capability


Naomi Manu

Naomi (Ngāti Kahungunu, Rangitāne, Ngāti Raukawa) is a well-known leader in Māori capability within the science and innovation sector. Naomi founded and established the nationally and internationally award winning Pūhoro STEMM Academy programme. The Pūhoro kaupapa is now embedded which has enabled Naomi to transition from Pūhoro to address workforce development gaps beyond those that the Pūhoro kaupapa is designed to address. Naomi’s efforts have helped promote the importance of diversity and inclusion in STEMM and her work is recognised domestically and internationally.
Naomi is an Obama Foundation Leader for the Asia Pacific region. A strategist, Naomi understands the importance of data-driven solutions and evidence-based decision making.

Arohaina Owen

Arohaina (Ngā Rauru Kītahi, Te ātihaunui-a-Pāpārangi is a dynamic leader and brings strong business acumen to Auraki Group Ltd. Prior to establishing Auraki Group Ltd Arohaina was the Vision Mātauranga Lead for the High Value Nutrition National Science Challenge & Principal (Head of Intrafund Advice) for the global corporate company Aon.

Arohaina leads, drives, coordinates and implements strategies and initiatives to build the long term sustainability for Auraki Group Ltd. Arohaina leads relationships between Auraki Group Ltd, our stakeholders and our community to build a comprehensive understanding of requirements needed to drive Auraki Group Ltd strategic objectives forward.


Co Founder - Finance

Frank Manu

Frank (Ngāti Porou, Rongowhakaata, Taranaki) is known for his financial management skills. Frank previously was the Finance Manager for award winning Pūhoro Charitable Trust and was responsible for multi-million dollar budgets.

Frank understands the importance of sound financial practice and is responsible for supervising important functions such as monitoring cash flow, determining profitability, managing expenses and producing accurate financial information.

Frank’s professional mantra is ‘happy bank, happy frank’.

Aroha Pomana

Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa

Aroha is a senior data insights analyst who has a strong background in data analysis, statistical modeling and business intelligence. Aroha is skilled in identifying trends, patterns and insights from complex datasets to drive strategic decision-making and evidence based reporting. She is a results-oriented professional who thrives in data driven environments and enjoys collaborating across teams and project to achieve outcomes for whānau. Aroha is the proud mother of five beautiful children.

Nicky Haeata-Ruwhiu

Rangitāne, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa

Nicky is a passionate educator with a strong commitment to Māori educational success. With over two decades of experience in teaching, Nicky is dedicated to empowering Māori learners to succeed and thrive. Nicky provided an environment for rangatahi that eliminated barriers to better enable educational success. This led to meaningful transitions to employment and further education. Nicky achieved all this whilst supporting her husband through his PhD in Social Work and raising their six children.
